Garm magazine covers
Tove Jansson earned a living by painting and drawing early in her career. One of her main employers was the satirical magazine Garm. She illustrated around a hundred covers for the magazine and over five hundred images and caricatures, depicting everything from the life of an artist to the events of the war. During World War II, she was Garm’s foremost cartoonist, openly criticising the enemy powers and high-ranking political leaders under her own name.
