“Tove”, directed by Zaida Bergroth, broke records as the most seen Finnish film in cinemas in Finland in the fall of 2020 and was also selected to represent Finland in the race for Best Foreign Language Feature Film at the Oscars. It has been sold to more than 50 territories, including the US and UK, Japan, Germany (premiering March 24!) and South Korea.
The film was released in Norway, Denmark and Sweden in the spring of 2021. In Sweden, it went straight into number one at the box office. The film was the biggest winner at “Finland’s Oscars”, the Jussi awards. It took home seven prizes, including the ones for best picture, best female lead, cinematography and set design. “Tove” is filmed in Tove Jansson’s home city of Helsinki, Finland and stars Alma Pöysti as the leading actress. The language of the movie is Swedish, which also was Tove Jansson’s native language.
